Blameless till the end, Teflon Hugo works the crowd…

October 22, 2009

Eleven years of neglect can not replace the media show that Hugo Chavze started last week to establsih what a great job he is doing and how it is all our fault:

According to Hugo, a shower should only take three minutes. As if many Venezuelans these days could even take a shower, as water rationing has become the rule everyday. And even if Chavez suggests you get in the shower right away without waiting for the water to get hot, he seems to ignore that there are electricity problems in most of the country, so that in order to take a shower you need many things to happen. First you need to have running water, something that does not necessarily happen in the barrios, but Hugo is so out of touch he is trying to blame the people for the problem. Then, if you are lucky enough to have running water, you need to actually be getting the water before you can take a shower. Finally, with all of the blackouts, you also need the electricity to get the heater going before the water can get hot.

But Hugo should read more about how many people have running water (electricity is very common, running water is not) and not about the Ginny index that Giordani has been telling us (and him!) about. In any case, the whole issue has become a joke, everyone wondering how much you can sing in three minutes and shower and get cleaned without being stinky (hediondo) at the end. That is why #3minutes has become such a popular topic in Twitter (that CIA tool according to Golinger , la Novia de de Venezuela)

Meanwhile, everyone wonders whether soon the name will be changed to XXIst. Century Communism, as Hugo clearly says that long showers or jacuzzis have no place in communism. Because he must think that the savage capitalism with Government intervention that he promotes, is somehow communism. I guess you need a jacuzzi like the one he has in order to understand it all. Or staying in nice Venice hotels

We actually have 3 water tanks in our Macuto house (which never seem to get filled up) and because they can shut off the water at any time (sometimes for 3-4 days), we have become accustomed to not using the shower. Instead we fill a bucket of water, go to the shower, pour a 2-3 glassfuls to wet the body, soap and then rinse. No more luxurious 3-minute showers, but a leisurely 10-minute pouring from the bucket!!! Is it any wonder that when I come back to the US, I let that shower pour full force???? And to think that I shall be going through this purgatory for 3 months since I shall be going to Venezuela in December!!!!

  2. Boca Condo King Says:

Is it me, or does Hugo look a lot like Obama in that picture?

Head tilted back, eyes closed, and hand out?

    Or is it just me….

  3. Kepler Says:

    Boca, it is you.

  4. Deanna Says:

Boca, it’s the other way around; Obama is beginning to look like Chavez everyday!!!

  5. firepigette Says:

    Boca,

You are correct, not in terms of physical features but in terms of gesture.Obama often keeps his chin up which means he is usually looking down at others( the sign of a narcissist which many politicians are).

Don’t think I say this because I am not a liberal.

Look at the difference with this rare ,and decent liberal politician:

    Dennis Kucinich

Kucinich often looks down so that when speaking he looks up to people. He has the body language of humility which is why he is not as popular as Obama .Most unconscious folks love people who love themselves.

But what they don’t realize is that it takes a healthier self esteem to be humble.Narcissism is not high self esteem. It is underdeveloped character.

  6. GWEH Says:

there’s another potentially big Venezuelan spy story coming out of the U.S.

Monday we should confirm the identity of the Venezuelan agent… if he’s for real then this one is big.

I think the investigations are ongoing. Next week we should know just how real and big this is.

  7. GWEH Says:

All, Chavez is nuts and so are most Venezuelans thus Chavez will remain in power in the short and medium term (10+ years)

  8. Roberto Says:

This isn’t the Mascheroni deal, is it?

  9. Roberto Says:

ANd by th eway, GWEH, with all due respect, you are far off the mark regarding Chavez and 10+ years. 2012, is about as far as he’ll get.

  10. GWEH Says:

Roberto, I will bet you an arepa on that! And just who/what is going to get him out of office? The barrios? The opposition? Cardiac arrest?

  11. Kepler Says:

Gweh, haven’t you noticed? We are arepa-pepeading him to death. The bloke must weigh now 50 pounds more than in 1992.
We have an agent in the kitchen.

  12. Roberto Says:

I’ll see your arepa, and raise you un batido de lechosa.

The opposition will have less to do with this than it thinks it should.
    The electorate will do it.

Unfortunately, Chavez is not the only one, as you are well aware.

  13. GeronL Says:

There is a lot of similarities between Chavez and Obama, one of them being Obama is several years behind in his robolution.

  14. GeronL Says:

You have to wonder what else will be blamed for the failures of Chavez? Some of this is hilarious and scary at the same time, its really scary to think that some large minority of the population will repeat it as fact “It is our fault”.

  15. Deanna Says:

Another similarity between Chavez and Obama is that they both like to blame the former administration for their failures!!!! Of course, Obama can’t blame the “imperio” the way Chavez does, because he’s part of it!!!

  16. Deanna Says:

Oh, I forgot—they both don’t like Fox News!!!
