Happy Holidays and Thanks For Visiting!!!

December 24, 2011

I am here in Caracas to spend Christmas with family. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you enjoy the Holidays, may you receive whatever gift, material or spiritual, you desire and enjoy a quiet, peaceful time with family and friends, forgetting for at least a while the problems around Venezuela and the world.

I would like to thank everyone for visiting the Devil, it is a privilege to have you all care for what I may have to say and many of you have become real or virtual friends in these nine plus years. This year I had the honor of having dinner with readers from as far away as Singapore, with friends from Caracas and San Felipe, with readers from Miami, a wonderful magical gift and an unexpected bonus for writing this blog, as I now “know” people wherever I may go.

Happy Holidays!

    Feliz Navidad–and be careful:

I just got word that my nephew was kidnapped for the afternoon and his brand-new car stolen, in Guarenas.

After several hours of being held, he had a severe asthma attack and they dropped him off at the hospital and gave him some of his B’s back to get home.

It’s become a very strange place!

Happy Holidays from Glenn and Blanca of Padre Island, Texas. We’ve been loyal followers since the beginning, when in 99/2000 we were living in Venezuela and naively hopeful for less corruption and bureaucracy. Things didn’t go as promised and soon after yourself, Daniel, Francisco, “Katy,” and Alek starting documenting the shamelessness and lawlessness of this government. We’ve returned many times to Venezuela to visit family and the changes are truly shocking each time in the inflation and insecurity situation. Venezuelanos have truly become the “frog in the boiling water” as no one is banging pots over these shocking changes.

Thanks for many years of hard work and I honestly look forward to the day that you are only blogging about orchids as Venezuela digs itself out of this morass.

  19. Many Happy Holidays! I follow the posts and even though I am unsuccessfully trying to be in a ¨festive mood¨ I find it extremely disturbing that Mr. C has sent wishes to my cellphone. Did u get one also??

    • captainccs Says:

I still don’t have a cell-phone but on the evening of December 24, after we finished the family dinner, all my family with cell phones (various brands/networks) found a message from C. Abuse First Class!

    • Kepler Says:

I posted a screenshot sent by one of Miguel’s readers.
Completely shameless…and I didn’t see that as news in Venezuela. It should, but people are just silent.

  20. All the best Miguel. Thanks for your excellent job as a blogger, and for keeping us informed with top-quality info and insights about Vzla. Happy Holidays.

  21. CharlesC Says:

Many have been critical of the unity shown by the opposition. In my opinion,
the chavistas will hope to create discord and use the newspapers they control
to propogate this beginning in 2012.
And, I hope the people realize (if this is actually the case?) that unity is the only
way to defeat Chavez at the election box and AND to govern Venezuela after
Chavez. I have hoped all along the the candidates who are not chosen for presidential opposition will find themselves in the cabinet with jobs for the future
government -a true Unity government determined to work together to rebuild
Venezuela. Because, they are qualified people and can set an example of putting
egos aside and working as a team. Venezuela needs a team-not an egomaniac
    for President. A “dream team”…

  22. David Says:

Happy Holidays, Feliz Navidad and Happy New Year. May you have a Healthy and Happy New Year with your family.
Gracias Miguel por todo lo que haces por nosotros
