President Hugo Chavez announced that he will end the unofficial visit to Venezuela tonight, when he will return to the new center of power for the country in Cuba. Apparently Chavez only came back to plead for his life with the Christ figure in his hometown of Barinas, his favorite one.
Chavez’ tone was a different one this week. He seems to be in the bargaining or depression stage, past the anger and denial of the earlier times. For those who still think this is an act, the length of Chavez’ speech is the giveaway, clearly he no longer has the energy that he used to, limits his time. I also think he was ranting and rambling more than usual, but that is very hard to measure. Mixing religion, Che Guevara, Bolivar and Darwin in the few minutes he spoke was a little bit of a stretch. Asking for Christ’s help, while criticizing the church seemed to be a little off too.
What is clear is that something must have happened while he was under treatment in Cuba. Whether the rumors that he is seeking advise elsewhere are true or not, this was a humbler Chavez, less arrogant and more pessimistic. The closeness to Christ, his favorite religious figure, increases all the time.
I wonder if we will ever know the details of what went on behind the scenes during all this time..

A timely visit it was!
“Presidente aprueba Bs 1.261 millones para escuelas católicas.”
The Pope’s not stupid…
a private audience plus forgiveness, and the open portal to heaven
still ended costing the sinner Bs. 1.261 million.

Miguel, isn’t the timeline the main story here?
From what I understand, he once again went to Cuba for treatment…returned to VZ expecting to remain for an undetermined amount of time…but was rushed back an EXTREMELY short time later. A matter of days, right?
Can you expound on this?
Also, I would like to hear from some posters here who claimed Chavez’s illness was a political ploy, a trick.
From what I understand about the events of the last week and a half…Chavez’s behavior and his trips to a miracle cure at Lourdes de Havana…he will be dead by JUNE, way before elections.

It’s not clear, he came back, gave the speech saw his family and went back, I dont think any doctors saw him in Barinas. Things must be complicated no matter how he looks. My birthday may be off by a few weeks, but not many.

The timeline is as he said before, not surprises there. But he going absolutely silent in Cuba, coming back to Barinas and not Caracas and the mass are telling a lot.
Sure, he doesn’t look *that* bad now, but he is notably reduced in activity.
Somebody announced no more Aló Presidentes, because of the campaign…
One thing to remember is cancer exponential growth, (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128…) things change very quickly at the end.

Yep, I did the double thing on the computer. It doesn’t take that many hits of the equal button for the number to start being represented in scientific notation because it can’t fit in the box. If it gets in a vital organ, it is soon over.

Next headline-Chavez gives much needed relief to Venezuela. The best part may be that he cannot talk as much.
Of course, Venezuelans now know that the country will run without him for extended periods if time.
The money spent of Chavez’ cancer treatment in Cuba could have gone a long way towards building a cancer hospital in Venezuela. Think of the airplane trips in his private jet, the foreign doctors, the bribes to the Castro brothers. the security, etc.

If Hugo was following in Christs’ footsteps this whole time, we wouldn’t be reading this on this site. Much less all of the crap for the past so many years.
If Christ is his favorite religious figure, whatever that means, he certainly never tried to follow his example.

I guess being in Cuba with the Holy Pappy did not get much results. Being the Lone Ranger (llanero) at mass did not do much more. If I was El Commie, I would do the grand tour of religion. Mecca,Jerusalem, India, China and of course Salt Lake City! Hey don’t knock the Mormons, they come from Moron in Venezuela you know! Of course there are lots of local voodo religions but Im sure he tried them first off. When all else fails, there is always the good old standby Mass General Hospital where the best from Harvard practice.

Maybe Thugo avoids Venezuela because the country makes him sick.
April 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm
No,…no, ….no.
The Summit of the Americas conference. Is Hugo going?
April 7, 2012 at 7:43 pm
Sorry for the confusion, Dr. Faustus. I believe that Chavez will be in
Cartagena(Correa said he is not going ). Maybe if Chavez is ill, he would
not go. Otherwise, how could he resist a chance to “act up” on the world
stage?
April 7, 2012 at 7:45 pm
Chavez had told Santos that he would be there..
April 7, 2012 at 5:57 pm
Is he going to Colombia next week? Does anyone know? Were there any statements to the press?
???
April 7, 2012 at 6:07 pm
I am guessing maybe Chavez will sneak into Brazil (while Dilma is away-she is going to D.C.)…but later, I bet he will be in Colombia and will
probably find a way to get attention there and dance with Obama.

“Chavez Ends Unofficial Visit to Venezuela”
Well said!

Yes, you get an “A” just for the title alone.

Wen Chavez goes he will bring down two dictatorships for the price
of one, his and Castro’s. and like Castro will have nothing to show for all the bluster. and billions that have slipped through his fingers, what a waste

an old russian song sums up the mood of many of us venezolanos …
http://lyricstranslate.com
Black Raven (Чёрный ворон)
All the kindness that was with us – undetected, disappearing
In an asphalt-covered Heaven, there’s no place for your own soul,
What will you get in return for, in exchange for stolen life,
The one who knows is black raven alone, that he knows,
While you’ve no clue.
You appeared from out of nowhere, and to nowhere you’ll return to,
Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black is another melody stirring in the back of my head. Hope, vzla’s future brings brightness, resurrection and wellbeing.

“cowards die many times before their deaths”
That describes Chavez to a T.
A blubbering coward & severally mentally disturbed.
Still have hope that Miguel’s prediction will hold true.
April 7, 2012 at 2:51 pm
Shakespeare has Julius Caesar say
” cowards die many times before their deaths/
The valiant never taste of death but once.”
Hugo’s dread of dying has turned into an obsession…

Reblogged this on danmillerinpanama and commented:
The Devil’s Excrement is one of the two English language blogs about Venezuela that I rely upon frequently. Moctavio always presents interesting material and has an excellent batting average.

No big deal, he’ll be back tomorrow.
